WAYS OF SEEING – Museum of East Dorset

Details

Wimborne Community Theatre & Millstream Theatre present:
WAYS OF SEEING – An interactive multi-media show at the Museum of East Dorset, Wimborne, Dorset.

Saturday 11th March – Doors open 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start.

What do you see when you enter a museum? But what don’t you see and whose voices might you hear?

‘Ways of Seeing’ will reflect stories behind two of the museum’s objects suggested by museum staff: the fragmented Roman fresco from the excavated Tarrant Hinton villa, depicting the myth of Narcissus and Echo, and the Victorian camera, used by Job Pottle (19th century) and Jimmy James (20th century) in their Eastbrook Photographic studio to capture images in Wimborne Town Centre.

‘Ways of Seeing’ is a joint production by Wimborne Community Theatre (WCT) and Millstream Theatre who perform original, site-specific theatre, bringing to life East Dorset stories often hidden or overlooked, in a way that brings together past, present and future – rather like the Museum of East Dorset does!

The audience will be divided into small groups (10-12 people max) who will be led around to watch/experience scenes in any order.

WCT and Millstream Theatre’s summer production, ‘Secrets of the Stour,’ took place in July on Dean’s Court land along the banks of the River Stour. It was enjoyed by hundreds of people, combining live drama, music, giant puppets and singing.
Audience member: “A new concept of theatre, and very moving. Everyone loved it and joined in. perfect in every aspect, the puppets, the acting, the costumes.”

Deputy Headteacher: “The way that the performance moved through the landscape was also so well planned, capturing the beauty of the location whilst also reinforcing the need to protect it.”

This is a fundraising event and all profits go towards the running of the museum.
