West Bay Discovery Centre is a unique multi-award winning attraction that has something for all interests and ages.

There’s also the opportunity to find out about our shipbuilding history, discover how West Bay became a tourist resort and get an insight into the filming of Broadchurch. Explore the stunning Jurassic Coast – we have a tourist information point with all the latest information on what’s on and where to go in this beautiful part of West Dorset. We also have a selection of local trails and guides. In our small retail area, we are proud to offer a selection of quality products from local producers, some of them made especially for us.
Our friendly volunteer team bring local history to life and offer first advice on how to make the most of your visit to the area. There’s no admission charge to the Discovery Centre but as a charity, we welcome all donations.
Don’t miss us – we are located inside a historic former Methodist Church situated on the edge of the beach and on the South West Coast Path. The Centre building was featured in the first series of TV drama Broadchurch.
Our hands-on interactive activities are fun for families and popular with all ages. This free visitor centre is perfect for families especially on rainy days. The Centre is a great place to learn about West Bay.
Special events are on offer throughout the year including seasonal pop-up exhibitions, talks and guided walks in the summer. We run additional activities for children during school holidays check our website for details.
