Swanage Railway’s 17th Annual Diesel Gala and Beer Festival – A Must-Visit Event!

Swanage Railway is thrilled to invite you to our 17th annual Diesel Gala and Beer Festival, happening from the 10th to the 12th of May. This event is a highlight for railway enthusiasts and beer lovers alike, offering an intensive service across our scenic 10-mile line between Swanage and the boundary with Network Rail at “Bridge 4” near the River Frome.

A Weekend Full of Activities
Throughout the festival, attendees can enjoy three trains in service daily. Two of these trains will cover the full length of our line, providing a comprehensive experience of our beautiful route. Additionally, a shuttle service will be available between Swanage and Corfe Castle, ensuring easy access to all the festival’s activities.

Beer Festival at Corfe Castle
The Beer Festival, hosted in the Corfe Castle Goods Yard next to the Goods Shed, is a must-visit. Organized by Purbeck Kitchens, the festival will feature an impressive selection of 34 Real Ales and 7 Ciders, all sourced from the Dorset area. To complement the drinks, hot food will be available from 12pm until late, ensuring a delightful culinary experience.

Evening Services
To enhance the festival atmosphere, we will operate our “Beerex” train on Friday and Saturday evenings. These special services will transport you to and from the Beer Festival at Corfe Castle, adding an extra layer of convenience and enjoyment to your experience.

Trade Stands and Charity Sales
Swanage Station will become a hub for railway enthusiasts, hosting several trade stands selling a wide variety of railway-related items and models. Additionally, GB Railfreight will host a charity sales stand, offering railway memorabilia and train components. This year, they will also offer the unique opportunity to own two nameplates from their Class 73 fleet, with all proceeds going to Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children.

*Advance Tickets available until Monday, 6th May @ 1700.
** Priv card must be shown to collect tickets and upon inspection, otherwise Full rate will be charged.
*** Two day rovers are consecutive days.
