The annual Film Festival is back for 2023, with a packed programme of over 80 movies.
The Purbeck Film Festival is an annual event held in and around the Isle or Purbeck. It was first established in 1996 and has since become one of the most significant cultural events in the area. The festival usually takes place over two weeks in October and showcases a diverse range of films from around the world, including classic cinema, independent films, documentaries, and international productions.
The festival’s program includes a variety of events, including screenings, talks, and workshops. In addition to showcasing films, the festival also aims to promote the art of filmmaking and encourage the development of the local film industry. As such, the festival offers opportunities for filmmakers to network and participate in industry events.
About the Purbeck Film Festival
Supported by the BFI and its South West Regional Hub the Purbeck Film Festival has, in its 24 years, continued to grow in terms of venues and audience numbers. Our primary aim is to provide a rich variety of cinematic experiences across a rural area which does not have easy access to foreign language, independent and classic films. Our festival provides a perfect opportunity to compare and contrast stories and styles across a wide range of films. Such a metropolitan approach to film screenings offers the chance to increase our knowledge and literacy of the cinema and can open our minds to new or different worlds.
