If you’re just starting out kayaking or looking to improve your skills this is the perfect course for you. You will get in learn so many great skills while having fun on the water. No previous experience is needed .

Your 6 Week River to Sea Course is broken up into 3 venues allowing you to learn on the River Frome and work through a range of kayaking skills with your fellow course members. Each session is 2 hours in Duration. Please arrive 15 minutes before the course start. Every wednesday for 6 weeks .

Fundamental skills include forward paddling, reverse paddling, sideways strokes, support strokes, and all-important rescue techniques.

As the course progresses you will get to understand a bit more about planning a journey using OS maps, tidal information, and the weather.

Weeks 1 to 3: Wareham Quay
Week 4: Bramble Bush Bay, Poole Harbour
Weeks 5-6: Swanage Bay

I have created a 6-week program that will take you from a complete beginner and provide you with the confidence and the experience to enjoy yourself out on the water before heading out to sea for your first sea kayaking adventure.

Week 1-3 Wareham Quay BH20 4NN
We will meet at the Wareham Quay car park where we will join your fellow adventurers and go through the course itinerary and what you hope to learn by the end of the course. The River Frome gives us a great space to learn lots of great skills and gain the all-important confidence in our own abilities. There will be lots of fun games, races, and challenges to push your boundaries.

Week 4 Bramble Bush Bay, Ferry Road, Studland
This location allows us to head out into Poole Harbour and explore a larger body of water and learn navigation skills.

Week 5-6 Swanage Boat Park
Weeks 5-6 will see all your hard work come together and we will head out for a sea kayaking adventure in Swanage Bay. With its new and old piers, there are lots to see and explore. We will test out all your skills and have plenty of time to do rescue practicing out in the sea. From here we can look at bigger adventures for the individual, and as a group, with the option for an end-of-year weekend adventure away.
