Brownsea suppers and safaris

Details

An exciting opportunity to meet some of Brownsea’s more elusive wildlife. Enjoy a boat ride to the island and a tasty homecooked meal before heading out with one of our knowledgeable guides on a wildlife safari across the island. Listen out for the whurring of the nightjars as they swoon and swoop across the heath and snuggle up in a hide to watch the spectacle of the nesting birds on the lagoon.

The boat will leave the National Trust Jetty at Sandbanks to the right hand side of the Sandbanks chain ferry at 18:30. Please leave enough time to park on roadside metered parking and to reach the jetty (approx.10mins). Please note that the carpark to the left of the chain ferry is for one hour parking only. Boats will go back to Sandbanks at 22:30. If you have come from Studland and parked there, please let the boatman know so that you can return back on the first boat in order to get back in time for the last chain ferry back to Studland.

This year we’re giving people the option to spend the night under canvas on the night of the event with 10% off a stay at the island’s historic campsite. If you choose to book with the campsite and take advantage of this offer, you would arrive anytime on the Thursday from Poole Quay (rather than Sandbanks) on the yellow ferry and make your way up to the campsite to set up camp for the night. The last ferry to the island from Poole Quay is at 16:30. There is overnight parking in the multi storey behind the quay or in the Thistle Hotel carpark. You’ll need to make your way down to the quay to meet the Ranger and other safari participants arriving for the evening meal at 18:40. You may spend the rest of the following day on the island leaving on any yellow ferry returning to Poole up until 5pm.

Should you wish to book a campsite stay ahead of this event email: brownseaislandcampsite@nationaltrust.org.uk with proof of your booking for the Night time safari, to receive 10% off your stay.”
