Dorset on Rail
Join us at Dorset History Centre for a free conference of talks celebrating Dorset’s history on rail!
This all-day event will feature talks on railway heritage, including Dorset’s first railway; British Rail’s employment of women in the late 1980s; migration of railway workers; and Dr Beeching’s railway closures in the 1960s.
Plus, get a chance to explore original railway plans, photographs and other railway documents from Dorset History Centre’s collections!
Event runs from 10am-4.30pm, with an hour break for lunch.
Tickets are free but booking is required. Drop-in visitors will be able to access the exhibition, but we cannot guarantee tickets for the conference will be available on the day.
Please call us on 01305 250550 to book your place.
If you would like to support us, please donate to Dorset Archives Trust, our charitable arm.
