The Portland Dress – textile drop in
Over the next few months The Portland Dress will be produced, be part of it, learn some techniques and have a go!
Did you see The Red Dress at the b-side festival in 2024?
Thousands experienced this significant international artwork, made by people from around the world. Now, Portland will create a sister dress that shares our stories.
Join us for hands-on textile sessions with two talented artists from Portland, Antje Rook and Sarah Whiteside. They each have unique styles and love to share their knowledge.
No experience is needed. Antje and Sarah will guide you in making your part of The Portland Dress. If you’re an experienced textile artist, you’ll find plenty to do, too. We’ll give you prompts about themes like hope and heritage. We invite you to include an heirloom piece—something from your life or family that tells your story.
Many of the textile pieces will embellish The Portland Dress. They will also be part of a display at b-side 2025.
