Spring Mushroom Growing Workshop

Come together at in the idyllic setting of Happy River Retreat, encircled in trees in Wareham Forest, Dorset to learn to grow your own amazing mushrooms at home.

This exciting Mushroom cultivation workshop, led by Andy Knott from Jurassic Coast Mushrooms, one of Dorset’s foremost Mushroom minds, is an amazing opportunity for anyone who is interested in learning about the fascinating world of fungi or growing fungi for the first time. You’ll learn different propagation techniques which you can apply yourself at home and grow your own mushrooms. If you have attempted to grow your own before and failed, this workshop is also for you!

A hands-on session, attendees will drill and plug their own mushroom logs, along with making up Oyster mushroom fruiting bags with pasteurised straw and native Oyster grain spawn. Each participant will get to take their own log and bag home, ready to fruit some lovely fresh mushrooms at home! You’ll leave feeling inspired equipped with the knowledge and know how to successfully grow more new and exciting mushrooms in the future.

We’ll cover the different mushroom types and various growing techniques, tips for maintaining and harvesting your fungi. You’ll also go away with some worksheets to remind you of what we covered and give guidance for future cultivation.
