Guided Walk: Let’s Talk about Wildflowers and Butterflies

A walk and talk focusing on the butterflies and flowers found on the farm, led by our Farm Estate Manager, Hannah who will be joined by conservation expert Jenny. They will explain how surveys are used to study the distribution of different species in specific areas of the farm, including butterfly transects. Some of the walk will include discussion of recent data about declining numbers in the butterfly population and what is being done here to support their dwindling habitats. There will be signposting to small actions all of us can take to improve outcomes for wildflowers and butterflies. A part of the walk will include the etymology of the common and scientific names for some of wildflowers, introducing some of the history surrounding the ones seen at Bere Marsh Farm. At the end of the walk, refreshments will be provided and there will be an opportunity to ask further questions.
