The Crick Crack Club at Cranborne Earthouse | Romeo and Juliet Retold
Details
There is a hill in Dorset that has a door. Inside is a fire-lit theatre. This is Cranborne Earthouse – one of England’s most magical, secret venues. Seating up to 250 people and lit by oil lamp and firelight, this is a place where audiences gather – under an earth roof, held up by 21 huge oak tree trunks – to listen to stories and music.
Every month, from April – October, world-class storytellers, The Crick Crack Club, bring legendary live performance storytelling to the Earthouse.
Romeo and Juliet Retold by Debs Newbold
With her passionate command of Shakespeare and startlingly powerful physicality, Debs Newbold catapults us into the torrid streets of Verona in this poignant, emotional and uproarious re-imagining of Shakespeare’s epic tale of star-crossed lovers.
Originally commissioned by Shakespeare’s Globe, this remarkable reworking immerses us in both Shakespeare’s incomparable verse and the poetic, irreverent storytelling that is uniquely Debs’ own. A multiple sell-out at the Hay Literary Festival and toured worldwide, this intimate retelling will help you see this famous tragedy anew.
