Sherborne Castle Country Fair 2022

Organised and run by volunteers to raise funds for West Country Children’s Charities

Held in the grounds of Sherborne Castle in Dorset, the Sherborne Castle Country Fair presents a rich and fun programme of events, country activities, stands and entertainment including one of the largest Rare Breed Shows in the country. For one day each year, one of the finest settings, with its spectacular grounds and lake surrounding Sherborne Castle, is transformed into a fun-packed Country Fair with attractions, entertainment and activities for all the family. We look forward to welcoming you for a great day out with your family.

The Fair is open from 10.00am to 6.00pm and typically attracts some 14,000-15,000 visitors. Car parking is free. Dogs are very welcome on a lead.

Dragon Boats
Walk down to the lakeside to the start of the course and watch all the excitement. Each crew is composed of a drummer and 16 paddlers, who race in Chinese-style Dragon Boats over the 250-metre course. The races will run from 10.30am until about 3.30pm.

Dog Events
We have lots of fun and entertainment at the Show, for owners and their dogs.

Rare Breeds
The rare, minority and native breeds show includes sheep, cattle, pigs, goats, horses, ponies and poultry, with commentaries about the stock and their history. It is one of the largest standalone rare breed shows in the country, with some 50 different breeds of animals typically forward.

Arts & Crafts
Every year visitors enjoy a selection of over 250 high quality craft, trade and food stands.

Music & Dance
A variety of traditional and country music, dancing and singing. This year will see: Graffiti Classics – comedy cabaret string quartet back by popular demand! Blackrock School of Irish Dancers – our favourite local Irish dance group. Wessex Morris Men – a touch of Old England. Wessex Highlanders – the stirring sound of the bagpipes! Street Organ – traditional Hurdy-Gurdy music from a bygone era. Local Vocals – local Sherborne choir.

The Sheep Show – Alpacas – Ferrets – Terrier Racing – Neil Varney Gundog display – Gore Farm Children’s Corner – Poultry Tent – World Life Conservation CIC – something for everyone, creepy crawlies, you name it!
