Kayak rescue training in Poole Harbour
Details
Would you like to become more confident in your kayak rescues ? You probably spend a lot of time learning all the kayak paddle strokes and learning to make you kayak move but have you learnt all about rescuing yourself and others while out on the water. Since running courses I have found peoples perceptions of how easy it is to rescue themselves differs from reality. This is the perfect course for you if your out in a kayak with friends or part of a group.
During your day with me you will get to learn all about rescuing others including using throwlines, Towlines and how to tow a kayak. Kayak rescues including x rescue, T rescue using slings. The fine art of self rescuing while out on the water and rescuing an unconcious paddler while out on your trips.
Alongside this we will have a look at using VHF radios which are a great lifeline. The benefits of a personal locator beacon and using maps and charts to plan your trip . Previous kayak experience needed.
Our course is the perect to learn everything you need to know to be safe out on the water before the summer weather starts and you head out for adventures of your own.
Please bring suitable clothing for the conditions and I can highly recommend a wetsuit as you will be in the water alot 🙂 hot drinks and food are also advised . Please get in contact on 07735582663
Group Size: Maximum group size of 6 per course
Age restrictions: Minimum age of 15 years old accompaied with an adult
Ability Level: Suitable for anyone with previous kayaking experience
Enjoyment Level: High
Equipment: H2oadventures has a fleet of Venture islay touring kayaks , P &H Delphins, Scorpios and dagger stratos for you to try out during the course. kayak hire, buoyancy aids, paddles and a dry bag for your valuables. Rescue equipment is provided but please bring any equipment you use or have recently brought as you can try it out before you need it for real.
Things to bring: Please ensure you wear suitable clothing for the weather conditions and it is advisable to bring some spare dry clothes (although the majority of people do not end up in the water unless they choose to) Trainers or wetsuit shoes are ideal, but be prepared to get them wet. It is important to wear sunscreen even on cloudy days.
Important information: Please ensure you arrive 15 minutes prior to your departure time. This is essential to ensure you are ready to start your adventure bang on time. Please appreciate that Instructors will be unable to wait for late arrivals due to the commitment of getting the group out on the water to enjoy their full experience. You will also be asked to complete a consent form and medical disclosure which can take 5 minutes, again we don’t want this to eat up into your adventure time!
Location : We have 2 locations for this course and use Bramble Bush bay ferry road studland studland ferry for Poole Harbour and Knoll beach studland dependat on tides . You will be informed on booking which location
