Introduction to Monotype Printing Course with Gwenda Jones

Monotype as a process has been utilised in printmaking since the 1640s and artists as diverse as Edgar Degas, Pablo Picasso, Joan Miro and Tracey Emin have all explored its differing qualities.

During this course Gwenda will also introduce an extra element in the form of chine colle  – meaning literally – Chinese collage. There will be plenty of opportunity to experiment with both these processes throughout the day.

Complete beginners to printmaking as well as those with experience are very welcome.

GWENDA JONES

After studying fine art,  Gwenda taught drawing and printmaking at colleges including Morley and  City & Guilds of London Art School.  Since relocating to the West Country she continues to pursue her own fine art practice. She is currently working on a suite of monotypes based on interiors towards an exhibition later this year.
