Footloose 2025

The award-winning Performing Arts Society (PARTS for short!) has been part of the Student Union at Bournemouth University for over 20 years.

The society provides the chance for students from all courses, at both Bournemouth University & Arts University Bournemouth, to come together and share their talents in a variety of areas (including musical theatre, drama, dance, singing, costume, backstage management, tech, hair and make-up, comedy and improv). PARTS has won SUBU’s Event of the Year award for Grease (2014), American Idiot (2017), Half a Sixpence (2019) and Chicago (2020). We have also been the winners of the Community Impact Award (2019) and were runners up in the National Society Awards for Best Student-Led event in 2016. In 2019, PARTS put on a 6-show production of ‘Chicago’ at the Shelley Theatre. The show was a huge success and our cast and backstage team had an amazing time rehearsing and preparing for the show.

In March of 2023 PARTS was able to make its post pandemic return assisting in the reopening of the Palace court theatre, an AUB owned space with a fascinating history of its own (see more at: https://aub.ac.uk/campus/palace-court-theatre#tab-4499134-the-history) by putting on a powerful production of Jonathan Larsons Rent. In March 2024 PARTS was able to continue our partnership with the PCT as it returned for a 4 show run of Grease the Musical.

This April, join us for an electrifying journey to the small town of Bomont, where big-city teen Ren McCormack finds himself in a place where dancing and rock ‘n’ roll are banned. With the help of some newfound friends—and a bit of rebellious spirit—Ren sets out to bring the beat back to Bomont, proving that sometimes, you’ve got to break the rules to set yourself free.

Packed with high-energy choreography, unforgettable songs like “Holding Out for a Hero”and “Let’s Hear It for the Boy,” and a heartwarming story of friendship and resilience, Footloose: The Musical is a show you won’t want to miss!
