Lyme Regis Diamond Jubilee Celebrations
A packed four-day programme of Diamond Jubilee celebrations in Lyme Regis (June 2nd-5th)
Celebrations for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee will be held over four packed days of fun for the whole Lyme Regis community and visitors to the town. Everyone is welcome to get involved so don’t miss out!
Remember if you are visiting Lyme Regis for this event, book your accommodation as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
SATURDAY, JUNE 2ND
11am – Civic Parade and March Past open for all local organisations to take part in, led by Lympstone Brass Band and visiting Chelsea Pensioners
12noon – Loyal Address on Marine Parade
12.30pm – Singing of the Lyme Song by B Sharp on Marine Parade
2pm – Jubilee Bowls Match at Lyme Regis Bowling Club, also celebrating the club’s 75th anniversary
2.30pm – Planting of memorial trees in Langmoor/Lister Gardens
3pm – Concert with Lympstone Brass Band on Marine Parade
8pm – Old Boys’ Night at Lyme Regis Football Club for all former players
8pm – ‘There Will Always Be An England’ Concert Party with local performers at Woodmead Halls
SUNDAY, JUNE 3RD
10am – Service of Thanksgiving at St Michael’s Parish Church
12noon – The BIG Sunday Lunch at Woodmead Halls – in two sittings at 12noon and 1.30pm. Tickets cost £8.50 for adults and £6 for children – phone 01297 446155 for details. This will be followed by the screening of the Jubilee Pageant on the Thames on a big screen.
2pm – Period Cricket Match with cream tea at Uplyme and Lyme Regis Cricket Club
3pm Jubilee Games and Races at Lyme Regis Football Club, followed by cream tea at 4pm
7pm – A Jubilee evening of comedy with “Instant Wit!” at Marine Theatre
MONDAY, JUNE 4TH
10am – Maritime Celebrations with Gig Club activities
11am – Judging of best dressed shop and private house
12noon – Maritime Celebrations with Power Boat Club
2pm – Maritime Celebrations with Sailing Club
3pm – 1950s Tea Party with live swing band on Marine Parade (or Marine Theatre if wet)
3pm – Veteran’s Football Match at Lyme Regis Football Club
5.30pm – Maritime Celebrations – Review of the fleet followed by sail past and salute
9pm – Jubilee Torchlight Procession
10pm to 10.30pm – Lighting of the Jubilee Beacon
TUESDAY, JUNE 5TH – CHILDREN’S DAY!
11am Children’s Fancy Dress with Royal Theme competition in Theatre Square
12noon – Display by Lyme Regis Majorettes on Theatre Square
12.30pm – Display by Lyme Regis Taekwondo Club on Theatre Square
3pm – Jubilee Street Party in King’s Way (open to all Lyme Regis residents and visitors)
4pm – Presentation of Jubilee Mugs and Passports to all Lyme Regis children at primary school age and below at the street party
5pm – Jubilee Games on the beach
8pm to 11pm – JUBILEE FINALE: Open air dance with disco on Marine Parade
