A year after the release of her wonderful, retrospective album, ‘Moon on a Mirrorball’ Judie Tzuke is back with an enchanting new album, ‘One Tree Less’. This collection of fresh, contemporary songs, is being heralded by many as her finest album since the classic ‘Welcome to the Cruise’; Judie Tzuke once again displaying the enormous depth of talent which has garnered her so much respect over the past three decades.
Best known for, ‘Stay With Me Till Dawn’ (which was voted the 39th best British song of the previous 50 years in a BBC Radio 2 poll in 2002), top 10 albums, including the revered classic, ‘Welcome to the Cruise’ and Judie’s live experiences which include a Glastonbury headline slots in the company of Jackson Browne (“I had the throat from hell,” she says, “but he was my hero, so I miraculously recovered.”) and playing to 400,000 in New York, with Elton John.
But, even with such a rich past, for Judie, this is a time for looking forward, and with this in mind, the past five years have been some of Judie’s busiest. As well as recording her own material, including a critically acclaimed contribution to the recent John Martyn tribute album and performing sell-out gigs around the UK, she has also been working with artists such as Tom Baxter, Lucie Silvas, Freemasons, David Saw, Laura Welsh, Jamie Lawson, Cass Lowe, Bailey Tzuke, Kyla la Grange, Tiesto, BT, Garou, RyanDan, Morcheeba and many more.
Her love and passion for songwriting and working with other artists makes her a refreshing alternative to the gloom merchants who think honest, intelligent, emotional music no longer has a place in the music industry. As she put it, “There are some amazing young people out there who, like me, just need places to play and people to hear them.” Well, this spring people will get to hear Judie, live on her UK tour and on the new album ‘One Tree Less’ which in a recent review, Paul Reynolds described as furthering, “her musical accomplishments to provide the listener with an engaging, thought provoking experience… It’s an emotional tour de force, but it’s a journey you are more than glad you have taken.”
The date for the full release of the new album ‘One Tree Less’ is the 5th of March 2012 and the ‘One Tree Less’ UK Tour Starts on the 9th of March 2012.
